    what about when there is not enough room for 2 inches extra coverage. for example the edge of the roof 90* drop off. My TPO roof has cracked at the roof's side edges and made some small 1" slices where its appears the plywood edge pushes up into it from below.

    what are some common products that can be used for cleaning prep and cut edge sealing? Iso alcohol and silicone respectively?

    • @jakecarlan8061
      @jakecarlan8061 2 місяці тому

      Weathered membrane cleaner for the prep. Whichever brand TPO you're using will typically sell it. Same for the edge sealing, there is a specific product they call "cut edge sealant" that you need to use. Wherever you bought the TPO from should sell both.

    I have a roof in CT that looks flat to the eye and is a black 10 ft seams wide material covered with a layer of pea sized rocks. It is completely drained after a rain in about 2 hours, and completely dry after 4-6 hours. What peel and stick product will work on this? Most contractors that have looked at the roof have no clue. I want to strip it down, replace any bad plywood than use a peel and stick application only, (no fumes allowed). Any advice from anyone is much appreciated. Thanks

    Is there a limit in time to repair a pvc roof. I’ve been told that after 10 years it couldn’t be repaired anymore and the whole roof has to been renewed. Thanks.

    • @MuleHideVideos
      @MuleHideVideos 10 місяців тому

      Single-Ply roofs can typically be repaired throughout the life of the roofing system. Since Mule-Hide offers warranties up to 30-years in duration there should not be an issue with making repairs to the system. Proper cleaning and preparation will be critical to the success of the repairs.

    When I do this, I put the seam tape on the flashing, then glue the flashing up to the tape. That way you don't need to trim at the bottom since the tape is already there with the proper exposure...

    Nothing about how to seal the seamsin the metal ? I am doing a repair right now , and every seam in the metal is leaking ! Also ,. does the metal get primer? They are doing things differently than when I went to Goodyear rubber school in Akron , in the 1980's , My supplier said the metal gets primed with the same primer as the rubber, however there is no mention of that here !

      Most likely not in the short term, but you never want water to flow downhill onto gaps, water may seep through once material breaks down over time. These rolled sheets are prone to warping over time/coming loose after years of heating/cooling

    I'm installing a small, 3 square SA "Liberty" roof. The base sheet was a dream and it worked perfectly. The cap sheet is sucking. I assumed that the same method would be used on the cap sheet but I was wrong. The plastic sheet did not want to pull out easily like the base. It was a combination of the weight and the interference from the overlap area, both the plastic and the slightly rough membrane. Apparently you have to flop half of the whole length over and that will be tricky. If things don't go perfectly, it will be a shit show.

  • @evanlovesbears
    @evanlovesbears 2 роки тому

    Do you wrap the edges, put metal on top of tpo, and cover with am adhesive membrane because it's cheaper than tpo metal? Tpo metal seems way more practical and less labor intensive, which probably costs the same in the long run as this method does. I don't get it. Unless the home owner wants a drip edge that's a certain color?

      @@jackconnolly2665 If considering the re-roofing, how about keep the plastic sheet and not pull out from the bottom of the nail base sheet, use nails to hold the base sheet on the plywood roof. Is that working?

    • @jackconnolly2665
      @jackconnolly2665 2 роки тому

      @@geoffyang9984 The stuff I used was far too slick with the plastic in place. It would be so slippery that you'd need 10X the nails (and nail holes) to keep it in place. When completed, the adhesive turns it into one large stuck down piece with no nail penetrations.
